Moab Elopement Packing List: Everything You Need for Your Desert Adventure

Planning an elopement in Moab is exciting, but let’s be real…the desert can be super unpredictable. From hikes, sunrise ceremonies, and off-roading, you’ll want to be fully prepared so your day feels effortless. Here’s your ultimate Moab elopement packing list, everything you need for your adventure wedding, from clothing to gear, and a few BFF tips to make it easy breezy.

1. Clothing & Accessories

  • Layered Outfits: The desert can be chilly at sunrise and hot by midday, then chilly again in the evening. Bring a lightweight jacket or shawl.
  • Wedding Dress / Outfit: Consider breathable fabrics or even an outfit change that won’t get ruined on a hike.
  • Comfortable Shoes: Hiking shoes or boots for terrain, plus optional wedding shoes for photos.
  • Hat & Sunglasses: Protect yourself from the bright desert sun.
  • Spare Clothes: Extra socks, underwear, or a second outfit or changing after your pictures if you want!

Choose outfits that move with you. Flowy dresses and pants that allow climbing rocks usually work best! Even if you are not planning on rock climbing or anything crazy, sometimes we will take some big steps to get cool photos!

2. Hiking & Adventure Essentials

  • Water & Snacks: Keep energy up and stay hydrated (most important) for hikes and hot ceremonies.
  • Sun Protection: Sunscreen, lip balm, and hats.
  • Navigation / Maps: An app I love is All Trails for navigating. Some spots are off the beaten path, make sure to bring a portable phone charger just in case!
  • Tote or Small Backpack: To carry all these things in comfortably of course!

3. Ceremony stuff & Personal Touches

  • Rings & Accessories: Don’t forget your vows, rings, or sentimental items (think flat-lay items).
  • Blanket or Picnic Setup: For a cozy post-ceremony snack.
  • Bouquet, Boutonniere and any other Decor
  • Portable Speaker (Optional): For a little background music or first dance. Just because you are having an intimate wedding or elopement doesn’t mean you have to miss important moments! (I can also bring my speaker so you don’t have to carry all that, just ask!)

FAQ About Packing for Moab Elopements

Do I need special shoes for desert hikes?
Yes—sturdy shoes or hiking boots are best. Avoid heels unless it’s for photos only.

Can I bring kids or pets?
Most locations allow small groups, but check specific park rules. The parks do not allow animals sadly. If you want to bring a pet, just ask and we can suggest some beautiful pet friendly locations.

What’s the best time of day to pack for?
Pack for sunrise and sunset temperatures. Layers will help, even if just needed to warm up for a second!
